~ Santisima Muerte Blue Moon Ritual ~

This is a ritual that just like the phase can be done whenever the blue moon shows itself since it is built upon that energy. With the full/blue moon falling on Samhain with the Day of the Dead following right behind it it’s the perfect time with the veil being so thin.

I wrote this back in 2004 originally for a group and while I have written this ritual using the traditionl three colors so for those of you that own a rainbow colored statue this will work with that robe aspect perfectly as well. If you just have a picture of La Santisima Muerte no worries it will work for it as well.

Also within this ritual we will also be working with one of the seven sacred seals of La Santisima Muerte which in turn the candle and the petition will coinside within the context of each other EX: if you are wanting to improve you marriage or love relationship then you will prepare the fourth candle for love or marrage work using the Santa Muerte Love seal and the petition will entail what in the relarionship needs improvement or needs to change.

Another thing you will notice is that I have added the phrase ‘So Mote It Be’ followed by “Amen” in parentheses. I am leaving the optioin of using either phrase you feel comfortable using.

And one final note about this ritual is that while it has been re-written for a single individual if you have several family members and or friends who are also devotees then this is a great opportunity to make it a group gathering and raise a cone of power. All you need to do is change I to we and depending on how many individuals participate just add more candles, bread and tequila shots.

So for this ritual you are going to need the following items:

  • Copal Incense
  • charcol disc
  • 1 white candle
  • 1 red candle
  • 1 black candle
  • 1 candle for a specific purpose
  • Santa Muerte Seal of a specific purpose
  • Two piece of bread
  • Two shots of tequila
  • lighter
  • paper
  • pencil
  • fireproof container

The candles are to be positioned in the following order: Black, White, Red and fourth candle of specific color choice and if you have Santa Muerte Oil or you want to dress the candles for a specific purposes you can add a bit to the candles but it’s not mandatory and it won’t lessen the effectiveness of the ritual in any way.

You will begin by lighting the disc and allowing it to burn for a few minutes then adding the copal incense, if you have one of those burners you can grab ahold of then take a few minutes to cleanse the area around the altar and any participants then place it back on the altar.

Next you will light the white candle and recite the following:

Mi Blanca Santisima Muerte, Breath of Transformation, Spark of Creation that banishes the darkness, Rain of Inspiration, Soil of Foundation, COME! I ask that you stand firm to guard and protect, activate and fulfill. Support the magick created here by hearing my request. So Mote it be (Amen)

You will now light the red candle and recite the following:

Mi Roja Santisima Muerte, Breath of Transformation, Spark of Creation that banishes the darkness, Rain of Inspiration, Soil of Foundation, COME! I ask that you stand firm to guard and protect, activate and fulfill. Support the magick created here by hearing my request. So Mote it be (Amen)

You will now light the black candle and recite the following:

Mi Negra Santisima Muerte, Breath of Transformation, Spark of Creation that banishes the darkness, Rain of Inspiration, Soil of Foundation, COME! I ask that you stand firm to guard and protect, activate and fulfill. Support the magick created here by hearing my request. So Mote it be (Amen)

Now depending on what you want to manifest within this ritual you will then lay out one of the Seven Sacred Seals of La Sastisima Muerte that is found within her sacred Bible and place the fourth candle that has been prepared that coinsides with the seal. Then on the piece of paper you will write out what you want to manifest. Then you will fold the paper once then once again. REMEMBER if you are trying to attract something you fold it towards you if you are getting rid of something then you fold it away from you.

Now this part is best performed outside but you will take the fireproof container and light the paper while you recite the following:

Write a Wish, Then to Flame
Santa Muerte’s blessing yours to claim.
Hear my wish sent into flight
To journey on in Blue Moon’s Light
So Mote It Be (Amen)

Now you will take the bread slices and bless them by saying:

Santisima Muerte, I give thanks for all that you have provided for me in this physical plane. Bless my body as I consume your sweet bread of strength So Mote It Be (Amen)

Place the bread upon the plate and now take the two shots of tequila in your hands and bless them by saying the following:

Santisima Muerte, I give thanks for all that you have provided for me in this spiritual plane. Bless my body as I consume your sweet milk of knowledge So Mote It Be (Amen)

Now taking one slice of bread and say: May I never hunger So Mote It Be (Amen)

Now take the tequila shot and say: May I never thirst So Mote It Be (Amen)

Now place your bread and tequila to the side and now take Santisima Muerte’s Bread and Tequila and recite the following:

Santisima Muerte, I thank you for blessing this space. I know that a part of you is always me, as a still small voice that guides and nurtures. Help me to listen to that voice, to trust it and trust in my magick

Santisima Muerte I thank you for your pressence and protection. Keep me rooted in your rich soil so my spirit grows steadily, keep me flowing ever towards wholeness in body, mind and spirit, keep your fires ever burning within my sould to light up any darkness and drive it away, keep your winds blowing fresh with ideas and hopefulness until I return to your protection again So Mote It Be (Amen)

NOW at this point you consume you slice of bread and then down your shot of tequila as a form of grounding yourself because as we all know her energy is very strong and if you should ever find yourself with a Blue Moon on October 31 magickal things will happen!

~ Pan de Muertos Recipe ~

Mexican-Day-of-the-Dead-Bread-Pan-de-Muerto-8570-450.jpg
Pan de Muerto is a bread that is traditionally placed on the altars of the ancestors and La Santisima Muerte and with Samhain and Dia de los Muertos fastly approaching I wanted to share this recipe with you so that you guys can make it especially if like me you live in an area where you can’t purchase it

Ingredients
  • ¼ c milk
  • ¼ c water
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 ½ – 3 c unbleached all purpose flour divided
  • ¼ c sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (one packet)
  • 1 ½ tsp ground anise
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten (for egg wash)
For the Glaze and Topping
  • 1 small orange, zested and juiced (roughly 1/4 c orange juice)
  • ¼ c + 1 Tbsp sugar, divided
  • In a small saucepan heat the milk, water, and butter together until the butter has melted. Remove the pan from the heat and transfer the mixture to a shallow, wide bowl to cool to 80-90F.
  • In a large bowl, mix together 1 c flour, sugar, yeast, salt, and anise. Add the cooled milk mixture and whisk until combined. Add the eggs and whisk until smooth.
  • Add the remaining 1 ½ – 2 c flour gradually, mixing until each addition is fully incorporated before adding more. Add just as much flour as you need for a soft workable dough to form.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, adding any remaining flour as needed to keep the dough from sticking to your hands or the counter. Knead until the dough is smooth and soft, but doesn’t stick to your hands.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl. Cover it with a cloth or plastic wrap the bowl and allow it to rise or double in bulk for roughly 1 hour.
  • Cut 3 small portions (roughly 1.5 ounces each) and 1 smaller portion (roughly .5 oz) from your dough. Shape the 3 smaller portions into a rope that is roughly 6-7 inches long and has 4 bulges. (These are your ‘bones’.) Shape the smallest portion into a small ball (for the top). Shape the remaining larger portion of dough into a large ball and place it on a flour-dusted baking sheet. Brush it with the egg wash and layer the three “bones” across the top. Brush again with egg wash and press the smallest ball into the top where the bones meet. Brush the top ball with egg wash.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm and draft-free place until puffy and nearly doubled, roughly 35-45 minutes. Near the end of the rising time, move your oven rack to the lowest position (this bread gets tall and having extra space over the top of the bread in the oven will help it not darken so quickly) and preheat your oven to 350F.
  • Bake the bread for 20-25 minutes, until it sounds hollow when tapped. (The internal temperature taken with an instant read thermometer should read 170F.) If the crust looks like it is getting too brown for your liking towards the end of baking, you can tent it loosely with a piece of aluminum foil.
  • While the bread is baking, make the glaze: Heat ¼ c sugar together with the zest and juice of one small orange. Bring the mixture to a simmer and simmer for 2-3 minutes. If necessary, strain the glaze of any orange pulp and set the strained glaze aside.
  • When the bread is done, brush the warm loaf with the glaze and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  • Let the bread cool slightly before slicing.
If you want to not go the extra mile and add the decorations then you can maks smaller loaves to place on multiple altars or you can double up on the recipe to hand out to family and friends.

~Santisima Muerte Black Magic Brujeria Breaker ~

*I wish to thank my fellow sister and devotee of the Santisima Muerte Community A.M. for allowing me to share this interesting ritual with you.*

This ritual is used when you suspect that your health is declining due to brujeria (witchcraft) that has been done against you. It is important to point out that there is NEVER any possible way of accurately knowing if anyone, even your worst enemy, has placed a hex or a spell against you. It is always advisable that you visit a Doctor first before attempting to break any witchcraft hexes or spells against you. Usually, a person would know if they have been crossed or hexed as you would experience issues like unexplained illnesses and pains in unusual parts of the body, stomach and digestive ailments, constant mental anguish, unexplained insomnia and unexplained bouts of bad luck.

Black magic can sometimes be difficult to remove and can be costly. Breaking a hex or a spell isn’t as easy as lighting a candle or having a limpia, and voila you’re healed. Its not that easy! Witches and Magic Practitioners use energy and spirits in witchcraft with the intent to ‘break’ the intended in every sense of the word. Breaking black magic takes a lot of time, energy and money (for ingredients). It will take several rituals to break a hex or a spell. The Ritual below is proven to break any witchcraft against you. Remember, Magic is all about INTENT and Faith.

You will need the following for this ritual:

  • A Black statue of La Santisima (blessed and welcomed into your home and your altar)
  • 1 sacred seal of La Santisima Muerte (The Holy Death) against spells
  • 1 white and black candle of La Santisima Muerte (Double Action Candle)
  • 1 Ajo Macho (Whole Garlic Bulb)
  • 1 Cigar
  • 1 bouquet of basil (albahaca)
  • 1 bouquet of rue (ruda)
  • 1 Red Apple

Working the Ritual:
It is important that this work is done on a Tuesday or Friday afternoon, at your altar or In front of the statue of La Santa Muerte. She will be guiding this process and ultimately La Santisima Muerte will be working on your behalf to break and remove any brujeria.

To start, You will light your candle and “clean” yourself with the candle (like you’re doing a limpia de huevo). You will do the same with the Cigar (do not light it, just rub the cigar against your body as to catch your essence. “Clean” yourself with the apple, the bouquets of basil and rue, and finally the Ajo Macho (garlic head). Cleanse yourself with each ingredient one by one. You must be sure to “clean” your entire body from head to toe with each item.Next, you will light the Candle and say a prayer to La Santa Muerte, imploring her to remove all witchcraft, hexes or spells from your body. This MUST be done with absolute faith and devotion.Take the Sacred Seal of La Santa Muerte and write your wish on the seal.

Place the Ajo Macho, Basil and Ruda bouquets, Red Apple at the foot of La Santisima Muerte along with the Sacred Seal that you wrote your petition on.Light the Cigar and smother the image with the smoke of the Cigar. About 7-9 puffs of smoke should be sufficient. DO NOT turn it off after you are one puffing smoke – Leave the cigar near your Blessed Death until it goes out on its own.

This ritual is very strong and powerful. It will need to be repeated as many as 3 times for results. Do Not be amazed or scared if the glass vase of the Candle breaks or shatters, or if the candle turns off for no apparent reason. If this happens to you, start the whole ritual again. It is believed that shattered glass candles is a sign that Santa Muerte is working hard on your behalf to break witchcraft with her scythe.

On the third day after the ritual, collect the Basil and Ruda bouquets, Red Apple and Ajo Macho from your altar and leave them at the base of a leafy tree.
