~ Santisima Muerte Beltane Ritual ~

Beltane is a day for fertility rites, light-hearted celebration and sexual revelry, for love-chases, maypole dancing and performing the Great Rite to honour the Mother: make May Baskets and weave flower garlands – choose a May Queen to represent the Goddess – wear green and crowns of flowers – dance naked in the crops or ride a broomstick through the fields, for the fertility of the land – leave offerings for fairies – gather in sacred groves – pay homage to your household gods.  In the Wheel of the Year, the Goddess and God reach young adulthood; both are in their green prime.  They become lovers and consummate their union.

We will be lighting candles specially prepared and blessed with oils and herbs especially prepared for this ritual then placed at the altar of La Santisima Muerte for the purpose of bringing aide to our workings in areas of self-love, beauty, relationships, marriages, pregnancies and other areas in which the seeds we planted at Ostara need to come to fruition.  The ritual may be recorded and uploaded to our website via YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.

~ Santisima Muerte Rosary Short Video ~

This is a short video about the Santisima Muerte Rosary. I plan on making a much longer one going into further detail with prayers later on but for now this should be enough to get the jist of it. For those that were raised Catholic or have used other form of prayer or meditation beads you will find it easy to learn how to use the Santisima Muerte Rosary.

There are various reasons for using it, to make a stronger connection with her, it aide in sleep on restless nights, some rituals of hers require that it be performed as part of a 9 day ritual or NOVENA as it is called. While I was raised Catholic I have incorporated some of the traditional Santisima Muerte workings into m practice but I have changed things up as she has guided me to to make our working relationship more effective.

It is not ABSOLUTELY necessary to use this item as part of your working relationship and devotion to her if you are drawn to learning it BY HER then by all means do feel free to purchase one and learn it. I have found that by taking my time and not rushing to get it done you really feel her presence while reciting it. I of course have created my own invocations to recite which I have shared with the students taking my Santisima Muerte Magick course but there are a few websites out there that have posted various prayers used when reciting the Santisima Muerte Rosary.

I leave you with the short video below and will be working on a much longer full length video which will contain both traditional and varied prayers.

I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank Lady Rhea, Rita Segarra, Daisy Orsini and Laurie Bizzarro for a most educational evening. It was most interesting to see how sister witch worked with Santisima Muerte and how the these lovely ladies each shared their knowledge and personal working experience with all that attended. It was beautiful indeed. HAIL SANTISIMA MUERTE and may she continue to bless each and everyone of her devotees.

~ Santisima Muerte Blue Moon Ritual ~

This is a ritual that just like the phase can be done whenever the blue moon shows itself since it is built upon that energy. With the full/blue moon falling on Samhain with the Day of the Dead following right behind it it’s the perfect time with the veil being so thin.

I wrote this back in 2004 originally for a group and while I have written this ritual using the traditionl three colors so for those of you that own a rainbow colored statue this will work with that robe aspect perfectly as well. If you just have a picture of La Santisima Muerte no worries it will work for it as well.

Also within this ritual we will also be working with one of the seven sacred seals of La Santisima Muerte which in turn the candle and the petition will coinside within the context of each other EX: if you are wanting to improve you marriage or love relationship then you will prepare the fourth candle for love or marrage work using the Santa Muerte Love seal and the petition will entail what in the relarionship needs improvement or needs to change.

Another thing you will notice is that I have added the phrase ‘So Mote It Be’ followed by “Amen” in parentheses. I am leaving the optioin of using either phrase you feel comfortable using.

And one final note about this ritual is that while it has been re-written for a single individual if you have several family members and or friends who are also devotees then this is a great opportunity to make it a group gathering and raise a cone of power. All you need to do is change I to we and depending on how many individuals participate just add more candles, bread and tequila shots.

So for this ritual you are going to need the following items:

  • Copal Incense
  • charcol disc
  • 1 white candle
  • 1 red candle
  • 1 black candle
  • 1 candle for a specific purpose
  • Santa Muerte Seal of a specific purpose
  • Two piece of bread
  • Two shots of tequila
  • lighter
  • paper
  • pencil
  • fireproof container

The candles are to be positioned in the following order: Black, White, Red and fourth candle of specific color choice and if you have Santa Muerte Oil or you want to dress the candles for a specific purposes you can add a bit to the candles but it’s not mandatory and it won’t lessen the effectiveness of the ritual in any way.

You will begin by lighting the disc and allowing it to burn for a few minutes then adding the copal incense, if you have one of those burners you can grab ahold of then take a few minutes to cleanse the area around the altar and any participants then place it back on the altar.

Next you will light the white candle and recite the following:

Mi Blanca Santisima Muerte, Breath of Transformation, Spark of Creation that banishes the darkness, Rain of Inspiration, Soil of Foundation, COME! I ask that you stand firm to guard and protect, activate and fulfill. Support the magick created here by hearing my request. So Mote it be (Amen)

You will now light the red candle and recite the following:

Mi Roja Santisima Muerte, Breath of Transformation, Spark of Creation that banishes the darkness, Rain of Inspiration, Soil of Foundation, COME! I ask that you stand firm to guard and protect, activate and fulfill. Support the magick created here by hearing my request. So Mote it be (Amen)

You will now light the black candle and recite the following:

Mi Negra Santisima Muerte, Breath of Transformation, Spark of Creation that banishes the darkness, Rain of Inspiration, Soil of Foundation, COME! I ask that you stand firm to guard and protect, activate and fulfill. Support the magick created here by hearing my request. So Mote it be (Amen)

Now depending on what you want to manifest within this ritual you will then lay out one of the Seven Sacred Seals of La Sastisima Muerte that is found within her sacred Bible and place the fourth candle that has been prepared that coinsides with the seal. Then on the piece of paper you will write out what you want to manifest. Then you will fold the paper once then once again. REMEMBER if you are trying to attract something you fold it towards you if you are getting rid of something then you fold it away from you.

Now this part is best performed outside but you will take the fireproof container and light the paper while you recite the following:

Write a Wish, Then to Flame
Santa Muerte’s blessing yours to claim.
Hear my wish sent into flight
To journey on in Blue Moon’s Light
So Mote It Be (Amen)

Now you will take the bread slices and bless them by saying:

Santisima Muerte, I give thanks for all that you have provided for me in this physical plane. Bless my body as I consume your sweet bread of strength So Mote It Be (Amen)

Place the bread upon the plate and now take the two shots of tequila in your hands and bless them by saying the following:

Santisima Muerte, I give thanks for all that you have provided for me in this spiritual plane. Bless my body as I consume your sweet milk of knowledge So Mote It Be (Amen)

Now taking one slice of bread and say: May I never hunger So Mote It Be (Amen)

Now take the tequila shot and say: May I never thirst So Mote It Be (Amen)

Now place your bread and tequila to the side and now take Santisima Muerte’s Bread and Tequila and recite the following:

Santisima Muerte, I thank you for blessing this space. I know that a part of you is always me, as a still small voice that guides and nurtures. Help me to listen to that voice, to trust it and trust in my magick

Santisima Muerte I thank you for your pressence and protection. Keep me rooted in your rich soil so my spirit grows steadily, keep me flowing ever towards wholeness in body, mind and spirit, keep your fires ever burning within my sould to light up any darkness and drive it away, keep your winds blowing fresh with ideas and hopefulness until I return to your protection again So Mote It Be (Amen)

NOW at this point you consume you slice of bread and then down your shot of tequila as a form of grounding yourself because as we all know her energy is very strong and if you should ever find yourself with a Blue Moon on October 31 magickal things will happen!

~ Pan de Muertos Recipe ~

Mexican-Day-of-the-Dead-Bread-Pan-de-Muerto-8570-450.jpg
Pan de Muerto is a bread that is traditionally placed on the altars of the ancestors and La Santisima Muerte and with Samhain and Dia de los Muertos fastly approaching I wanted to share this recipe with you so that you guys can make it especially if like me you live in an area where you can’t purchase it

Ingredients
  • ¼ c milk
  • ¼ c water
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 ½ – 3 c unbleached all purpose flour divided
  • ¼ c sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (one packet)
  • 1 ½ tsp ground anise
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten (for egg wash)
For the Glaze and Topping
  • 1 small orange, zested and juiced (roughly 1/4 c orange juice)
  • ¼ c + 1 Tbsp sugar, divided
  • In a small saucepan heat the milk, water, and butter together until the butter has melted. Remove the pan from the heat and transfer the mixture to a shallow, wide bowl to cool to 80-90F.
  • In a large bowl, mix together 1 c flour, sugar, yeast, salt, and anise. Add the cooled milk mixture and whisk until combined. Add the eggs and whisk until smooth.
  • Add the remaining 1 ½ – 2 c flour gradually, mixing until each addition is fully incorporated before adding more. Add just as much flour as you need for a soft workable dough to form.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, adding any remaining flour as needed to keep the dough from sticking to your hands or the counter. Knead until the dough is smooth and soft, but doesn’t stick to your hands.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl. Cover it with a cloth or plastic wrap the bowl and allow it to rise or double in bulk for roughly 1 hour.
  • Cut 3 small portions (roughly 1.5 ounces each) and 1 smaller portion (roughly .5 oz) from your dough. Shape the 3 smaller portions into a rope that is roughly 6-7 inches long and has 4 bulges. (These are your ‘bones’.) Shape the smallest portion into a small ball (for the top). Shape the remaining larger portion of dough into a large ball and place it on a flour-dusted baking sheet. Brush it with the egg wash and layer the three “bones” across the top. Brush again with egg wash and press the smallest ball into the top where the bones meet. Brush the top ball with egg wash.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm and draft-free place until puffy and nearly doubled, roughly 35-45 minutes. Near the end of the rising time, move your oven rack to the lowest position (this bread gets tall and having extra space over the top of the bread in the oven will help it not darken so quickly) and preheat your oven to 350F.
  • Bake the bread for 20-25 minutes, until it sounds hollow when tapped. (The internal temperature taken with an instant read thermometer should read 170F.) If the crust looks like it is getting too brown for your liking towards the end of baking, you can tent it loosely with a piece of aluminum foil.
  • While the bread is baking, make the glaze: Heat ¼ c sugar together with the zest and juice of one small orange. Bring the mixture to a simmer and simmer for 2-3 minutes. If necessary, strain the glaze of any orange pulp and set the strained glaze aside.
  • When the bread is done, brush the warm loaf with the glaze and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  • Let the bread cool slightly before slicing.
If you want to not go the extra mile and add the decorations then you can maks smaller loaves to place on multiple altars or you can double up on the recipe to hand out to family and friends.

~ Before Working With La Santisima Muerte ~

So yesterday I decided to make a 7 minute video on things one should think about and consider before deciding to work with and dedicating oneself to La Santisima Muerte or any other practice for that matter but since I have been noticing things within the Santisima Muerte cult/movement that was the main focus of my video.

There are times where people get into things for the wrong reasons and as I state in the video I have seen where practices become a “Magickal Fashion Fad” of the moment until something else pops up which in turn makes those that are truly dedicated to a particular practice upset at having others join only to strip it of what doesn’t “resonate with them” and in the end find themselves trying to figure out why things are going so wrong with their lives in the first place.

I am sure that there will be those that agree with some of what I say while others will not and that’s fine we are all entitled to our opinions but I would think that the one thing that everyone can agree on is RESPECT for the practice and it’s practitioners irregardless of whether or not things within the practice don’t “resonate” with you.

Many practices have a foundation and in a sense a set of rules and a way of doing things FOR A REASON and it’s normally to protect the newest person coming in from finding themselves up shyt’s creek without a paddle right out of the gate because of impatientness with regards to willing to take the time to learn and the automatic assumption that one knows more than an elder who has been doing it longer than you.

So when you watch the video listen to the questions posed, think really hard and this can apply to any practice not just La Santisima Muerte, take the time to really research and ask questions from the elders of the practice so you can get a better understanding of what is legit and what is bullshyt.
